The inaugural Africa Ports, Logistics & Infrastructure Summit, officially endorsed by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics of Mozambique, was collocated with the 10th anniversary edition of the Mozambique Gas & Energy Summit & Exhibition, taking place on 23rd September in Maputo, Mozambique.
This groundbreaking Summit placed a focus on improving connectivity across road, rail, air, and maritime sectors, prioritising cross-border corridors to facilitate intra-Africa trade and reducing logistical costs. Discussions covered green and sustainable infrastructure, the integration of digital platforms for efficient freight management, and the role of public-private partnerships in driving investment.
With Africa's growing trade opportunities, strategic infrastructure investment is critical to unlocking the potential of ports as gateways to global commerce. The African Ports, Logistics & Infrastructure Summit shone a spotlight on the vital role of modern infrastructure in facilitating trade, boosting economies, and ensuring sustainable growth.
This groundbreaking Summit truly laid the groundwork for the future of Africa’s ports, logistics and infrastructure sectors!
Key projects, including the USD $6.5 billion Ponta Techobanine Port and the USD $785 million Maputo-Katembe Bridge, are essential to Mozambique's growth and its ambition to become a hub in Southern Africa. The development of major transport corridors, such as the routes from Dar es Salaam to Nacala and from Durban to Walvis Bay, further enhances its role in connecting industrial centres across the continent.
The Africa Ports, Logistics & Infrastructure Summit gathered over 300 leaders from 25 countries, including policymakers, developers, and investors. As the only dedicated platform for stakeholders in Mozambique's logistics and infrastructure sectors, the Summit served as the official catalyst for partnerships and collaborations, promoting a more prosperous future for Mozambique and the broader African continent.
